Hey There!
I'm Sam. A physical therapist, Pilates and yoga teacher, entrepreneur, speaker, and writer.
From 2000 to 2023, I had the privilege of owning and operating The Cypress Center, one of the first facilities in the Los Angeles area to integrate Pilates with physical therapy. This experience, along with over 20 years of training and guidance from my mentor, Rael Isacowitz, has shaped my holistic approach to wellness and rehabilitation.
I recently “retired” from running The Cypress Center, so I can focus on my true passions- teaching, traveling the world, organizing & leading retreats, and empowering others!
I am dedicated to:
• Helping Pilates teachers reach your goal of feeling confident so you can work safely and effectively with every client- regardless of their injuries or movement issues.
• Organizing and leading lighthearted retreats. I want to give you the excuse and the courage you need to experience wellness & adventure travel!
• Empowering each person I work with to discover their body's full potential. Whether you are recovering from an injury, seeking to improve athletic performance, or simply want to move with greater ease in daily life, I'm here to guide you!

My background and education include a Bachelor’s Degree in Exercise Science from USC (1991), a Master of Physical Therapy (MPT) from Western University of Health Sciences (1997), and an MBA from USC (2005). I began my Pilates journey in 2001 with Rael Isacowitz and am a proud graduate of BASI's prestigious Legacy Program, which includes Mentor, Master I, Master II, and Honors levels.
I’ve created and teach two advanced education courses for BASI Pilates and have had the privilege of presenting at Pilates conferences worldwide since 2010. Throughout my career, I’ve had the honor of working with celebrities and professional athletes, including serving as a student athletic trainer at USC and later as the physical therapist for the Phoenix Suns, Coyotes, Mercury, and Rattlers. In 2010, I was selected as the PT for the EAS Unstoppable Tour, where I kept elite athlete Sam Tickle in top condition as he completed 30 sports in 30 cities over 30 days.
