I’m Samantha Wood, MPT, MBA, NCPT, RYT — a physiotherapist, Pilates and yoga teacher, educator, speaker, and writer. For over two decades, I owned and operated The Cypress Center in Los Angeles, one of the first studios to integrate Pilates with physical therapy, and trained extensively under Rael Isacowitz, shaping my holistic, evidence-based approach to movement and rehabilitation.

Today, my work focuses on what I love most: educating Pilates teachers, supporting injury recovery, leading retreats around the world, and helping people move with confidence, resilience, and ease — both in their bodies and in their lives.

WORKED WITH

My background includes a Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science and an MBA from USC, along with a Master of Physical Therapy from Western University of Health Sciences. I began my Pilates training in 2001 with Rael Isacowitz and am a graduate of BASI Pilates’ prestigious Legacy Program, including Mentor, Master I & II, and Honors levels.

I currently teach two advanced education courses for BASI Pilates and have presented at Pilates conferences worldwide since 2010. My experience includes working with professional athletes and organizations such as the Phoenix Suns, Coyotes, Mercury, and Rattlers, as well as serving as the physical therapist for the EAS Unstoppable Tour.

In 2010, I was selected as the PT for the EAS Unstoppable Tour, where I kept elite athlete Sam Tickle in top condition as he completed 30 sports in 30 cities over 30 days.
From 2000 to 2023, I owned and operated The Cypress Center and BASI Pilates Academy, Westside LA in Pacific Palisades, one of the first centers in the Los Angeles area to integrate Pilates with physical therapy.
You can find me here whenever I'm not traveling around the world teaching courses or leading retreats.
